My Story

Every two minutes a women is diagnosed with breast cancer in the US. This year, I was one of those women and early detection saved my life.

I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 1A, HR+, HER2-) during a routine annual mammogram/ultrasound. In March, for various reasons including breast density (Category D) and future risk, I underwent a double mastectomy (removal of both breasts) with immediate reconstruction (plastic surgery to tissue expanders and then second surgery to implants).

Thanks to scientific advances in early detection, diagnosis, breast cancer surgery, breast cancer care, genomic and genetic testing, I was able to safely avoid radiation and chemotherapy.  I will be forever thankful to my family for supporting me through one of life's worst moments and my incredible medical team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

If you are a woman, young or old, know your body and check it monthly. Feel something, ask about it and get it checked. Know your family history.  Book a mammogram as soon as you are eligible and do it every year. Early detection saved my life and it can save yours.

I hope you will consider supporting the science that triggers progress for breast cancer patients/survivors and programs providing aid to break down barriers to care for women in our communities. Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer.  Please join my team at this year's Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk in North Jersey.  Come walk with me, donate and/or ask others to donate.  Can't make it, please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

With Love Always,
