My Story
This year, our family is joining the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk in memory of my beautiful mom, Jeralyn “Jeri” Wirtz, who lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer on December 6, 2025.
My mom lived with breast cancer for nine years. Nine years of treatments, hope, strength, setbacks, and countless moments of choosing to keep going. She was so much more than her cancer. She was a talented fashion designer, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, and someone who brought so much creativity, love, and life into the world.
We watched her fight this disease for nearly a decade, and losing her has changed our family forever. But we don’t want her story to end with her loss.
We are walking to honor her memory, to celebrate the life she lived, and to help create a future where other families don’t have to experience what ours has.
I joined the Komen community because I believe that research, early detection, access to care, and support for people living with breast cancer can change lives. Funds raised through Komen help advance breakthrough research while also providing resources to people facing breast cancer today, including financial assistance, emotional support, and help navigating care.
For our family, this isn’t just another walk. It is personal.
Every step we take will be for my mom. For the nine years she fought. For the people who are still fighting. For the families standing beside them. And for the hope that one day, breast cancer will no longer take our mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, and friends from us.
If you knew my mom, loved my mom, or simply want to help us honor her memory, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.
Please consider making a donation to our team today. Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps us move one step closer to a world without breast cancer.
We walk for Jeri.
We walk for everyone still fighting.
And we walk for a future where no family has to say goodbye because of breast cancer.
