My Story
Sixteen years ago, I heard three words that changed my life forever: "You have cancer."
What began as a routine doctor's appointment, on my 33rd birthday, quickly turned into mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, and a diagnosis of Stage 2 breast cancer. I endured 18 rounds of chemo, a mastectomy and reconstruction, radiation treatments, and 5yrs of Tamoxifen. Cancer took a lot from me. One of the hardest decisions I ever had to make was choosing between stopping treatment for a chance at motherhood or continuing treatment to give myself the best chance at survival. I chose life. But the fight doesn't stop.
This year, I joined the Susan G. Komen community and registered for the MORE THAN PINK Walk because I want to hep create a future where fewer families hear the words, "You have cancer." I walk for those currently in treatment, for survivors and thrivers, for those we've lost, and for the loved ones who support them every step of the way.
I'm committed to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I'm asking for your help. Your tax deductible donation supports groundbreaking breast cancer research and provides critical resources for those facing breast cancer today, including patient navigation services, financial assistance, and emotional support through Komen's helpline.
