My Story
Late September 2018 I went in for my first mammogram. A few days later I was called in for a biopsy. Then I heard the words, you have breast cancer.
After my 12 and a half hour surgery at UCLA on December 11th, 2018 my doctors confirmed that they had removed 6 tumors that went undetected in the mammogram and required chemotherapy to ensure I had no more cancer in my body. 11 months later after completing 25 rounds of chemo, I was finally cleared of any visible signs of cancer.
In the past 7 years I have been fortunate enough to have check ups, blood work, scans, minor surgeries and tests to ensure the disease has not returned, and I am fortunate enough to say that despite a few scares and weird spikes in my tumor markers and other indicators showing suspicious masses I have been doing pretty well and continue to be cancer free.
I realize that I am truly one of the blessed survivors and that many others around me continue to fight their fight. So this year I have decided to walk again with my fellow breast cancer friends - and honor them all in our continued fight for beating this disease. For me, for them and for our future. It’s just too darn important.
Please help me continue to raise awareness and money for Susan G Komen and our fight to end breast cancer. Thank you for your contributions and for your humanity.
I love you all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
YOUR MONEY WILL: help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer this includes: support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
