My Story
Our reason is deeply personal.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, my wife at the time, Shawna, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Receiving that kind of news is devastating under any circumstance, but because of the hospital protocols in place, I was unable to attend her appointment and she was forced to hear those words completely alone and scared. As her family, we couldn't be by her side during one of the hardest moments of her life, and that day has left an impact on our lives forever.
What followed was a long, multi year and difficult journey that included five surgeries, months of radiation, treatments and countless doctor's appointments. Through incredible strength, determination, and the support of those around her, she fought her way through it all. Today, we're grateful to say she is cancer-free.
Unfortunately, my family's connection to this fight goes back much further.
My grandmother, one of the strongest women I've ever known was diagnosed with breast cancer multiple times throughout her life. Each time, beating it again and again, as she fought with remarkable courage. However, her battles did not end there. She went on to battle skin cancer before eventually facing multiple myeloma. She was the rock of our family. The glue that held us together. Her resilience continues to inspire me each and every day.
We walk to honor my grandmother's legacy.
We walk to celebrate Shawna's victory.
We walk for those who are still fighting, for those we've lost, and for the families standing beside them.
Every dollar raised helps fund research, provide support for patients, and bring us one step closer to a world without breast cancer.
Thank you for supporting our team and helping us make a difference.
