My Story
My breast cancer journey began in 2023, and from the moment I heard the words "you have breast cancer," my life changed forever. I was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer, and what followed was a journey filled with treatments, surgeries, fear, pain, uncertainty, and a strength I didn't know I had.
As a mother of three, I was determined to keep showing up for the people who depended on me, even on the days when I barely had enough strength to show up for myself. I went through chemotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy, DIEP flap reconstruction, additional treatments, and reconstructive surgeries. There were moments when I was exhausted physically and emotionally, but giving up was never an option.
Cancer changed my body and changed the way I look at life. It taught me that strength isn't always about being fearless. Sometimes strength is crying, being afraid, and still getting up the next morning to keep fighting.
Today, I proudly call myself a breast cancer warrior. My journey is still part of my life, but cancer does not define who I am. I am a mother, an educator, a woman with dreams, and a warrior who fought for the opportunity to watch her children grow up and, one day, hopefully meet her grandchildren.
I share my story because somewhere another woman is hearing the words "you have breast cancer" for the first time. I want her to know that even when the journey feels impossible, there can still be hope, purpose, love, and life on the other side of the hardest days.
My scars tell a story. And most importantly, I am still here to tell it.
