My Story
A year ago, I never imagined I would be participating in a breast cancer walk as a survivor myself.
In August 2025, I was diagnosed with Stage III invasive lobular breast cancer. What followed was a year of treatment that included 16 rounds of chemotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy, radiation, and now ongoing treatment to help keep this disease from coming back.
On September 27, I’ll be walking in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk in Milwaukee. And this one means a little more to me than I can possibly put into words.
I’ll be walking with Walk With Winnie, alongside someone who has been an incredible source of strength and perspective throughout my own experience with breast cancer. I’ll also be walking for the women I met during treatment, the women who came before me, the women living with metastatic disease, and the women who will hear the words “you have breast cancer” tomorrow.
Most of all, I’m walking because I know firsthand how desperately we need better detection, better treatments, more support for patients and families, and ultimately, a cure.
I am incredibly grateful to be here. And on September 27, I’m going to put on some pink, lace up my shoes, and walk with a whole lot of gratitude and hope.
If you’d like to support my walk, every donation, no matter the amount, helps fund breast cancer research and services for people facing this disease.
Thank you for walking beside me, whether you’re there in person or cheering me on from afar.
