My Story
I'm a 6-year breast cancer survivor, and I'm proud to stand behind organizations doing the real work: Susan G. Komen and After Breast Cancer Diagnosis.
Six years ago, I got the call that changed everything. It was the start of the pandemic, but my people showed up anyway. Standing in the rain before my first surgery so I'd know I wasn't alone. Then the cancer spread. More surgery. Chemo. Radiation. Complications. My sister moved from Colorado. My parents took me in so I could finish treatment safely. My family, friends and village never wavered.
This past year has been a hard one. More people I love have heard those same terrifying words. I lost a dear friend to this disease. She's one of far too many, and I'm walking for her too.
That's why I'm joining the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. Komen was there for me when I was scared and searching for answers and organizations like Komen are there for thousands of women right now, funding research, helplines for the scariest calls, and support that helps people actually get care.
My goal is $1,000. My real goal? A world where no one has to lose someone to this disease.
Every dollar tells someone you are not alone. Will you join me?
