Saving lives and ending breast cancer forever is the core of Susan G. Komen's mission. That's why I've joined Komen as a VIPink Ambassador. I'm fundraising for this incredible cause to help ensure that no one has to face breast cancer alone.
It's my goal to raise as much as I can to support Komen's vision of a world without breast cancer.
Komen is the only breast cancer organization taking a comprehensive, 360-degree approach to fight breast cancer across all fronts by funding lifesaving research, advocating for compassionate public policy, providing access to high-quality care and financial assistance, and ensuring patient support every step of the way.
Ending breast cancer needs compassion, research, policy support and care. Ending breast cancer needs all of us.

What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
Susan G. Komen’s mission is personal to me, not theoretical. I’m a breast cancer survivor, and my diagnosis completely shifted the way I see my body, my family, and my purpose. I know firsthand how overwhelming the medical, emotional, and logistical parts of this journey can be, not just for the person diagnosed, but for everyone who loves them.
What makes you VIPink?
What makes me VIPink is that I show up with both lived experience and leadership. I’m not just connected to the mission because I care, I’m connected because I’ve lived it, and continue to live it. As a breast cancer survivor, I understand the fear, the resilience, and the long road of healing that doesn’t end when treatment does.
I bring my whole self to this work: my story, my professional background in mental health, and my commitment to community impact. I know how to build relationships, rally people around a cause, and translate passion into action, whether that’s through fundraising, advocacy, or creating spaces where people feel seen and supported.
VIPink, to me, means using your voice, your skills, and your platform to make a real difference. I lead with empathy, follow through with action, and stay deeply invested in the mission because I know what’s at stake. That’s what makes this work personal, and that’s what makes me VIPink.
What will be your competitive edge against your fellow ambassadors?
My edge is the blend of survivor perspective, professional expertise, and proven leadership. I know how to tell stories that resonate, mobilize people around a cause, and follow through in ways that create real engagement and results, all while strengthening the ambassador community as a whole.
What sets me apart is my ability to translate that experience into action. I bring a clinical background in mental health, which allows me to speak thoughtfully about the emotional and psychological side of breast cancer, an area that is often overlooked but deeply impactful. I’m skilled at building authentic relationships, mobilizing diverse networks, and creating meaningful engagement that goes beyond awareness and drives participation, fundraising, and sustained involvement.
Give us one fun fact about you…
One fun fact about me: I’ve technically been a citywide ribbon-cutter since childhood. In 3rd grade, I won a citywide art contest, which earned me the honor of opening Austin’s Trail of Lights, complete with news coverage, a horse-drawn carriage, and the absolute highlight: getting to cut the ribbon with giant ceremonial scissors. It was my very first taste of creativity, community, and being part of something bigger and honestly, it still feels pretty on brand.
