My Story

I am Maddie Koslow, a Senior at Michigan State University, and I have asked my brother Tyler, his girlfriend Kathryn and my Dad to join my team, Mia's Angels, to walk in Chicago on September 28, 2024, to find the cure.

My Mom, Mia Koslow, passed away on January 14, 2020, at the age of 47. She had the BRCA1 gene, as did my late maternal grandmother and maternal great-grandmother.  Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 while 32 weeks pregnant, we learned my Mom also had ovarian cancer just days after Tyler was born. After surgeries and chemotherapy followed by a recurrence five years later, she devoted many hours, days and years fundraising and sponsoring her own "Mia's Angels" team in the 39-mile Chicago Avon Walks. Asked to personally speak at the closing ceremonies outside Soldier Field, Mia and her Angels were a top Chicago Avon fundraiser one year and given the opportunity to meet Patrick "McDreamy" Dempsey and his Avon racing team at the 24 Hours of Daytona. We miss her dearly and there is not a day that passes that we don't think about her.

Please help Mia's Angels with a small donation so that breast cancer can be defeated once and for all.  Thank you!
