Your gift could provide a one month supply of Tamoxifen, a drug used to treat breast cancers that rely on estrogen for growth, to a patient in need. Every 60 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer. Your gift will help save lives! Your gift could provide a screening mammogram to an uninsured or underinsured person in need. Your gift could provide a breast prosthesis for an uninsured or underinsured woman in need. Your gift will help us reach our bold goal to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. within the next decade!

Grandma Mary

The hot dish pictured here was my amazing grandma.  She was more like a mother to me than a grandmother and she was a breast cancer survivor long before the Race for the Cure begin.

She had a mastectomy by the time she was 50, and it was something we never spoke about.  While she lived another 35 years after that it changed her life and her relationship with my grandfather simply because it was never discussed.  He loved her very much & tried to show it, but she was visibly uncomfortable accepting his love.

If my grandmother had access to some of the resources that Susan G Komen provides I feel she could have lived a happier, richer and possibly longer life.  I walk to help others suffering get the help they need to move on and live life!
