What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
I support Komen’s mission to end breast cancer through research, advocacy, and direct patient support because I am living proof of why this work matters. As a breast cancer survivor, I know that I would not be here today if it were not for the research that led to new protocols, treatments, and life saving medicines. Those breakthroughs didn’t happen by chance—they happened because people and organizations chose to invest in science, patients, and hope.
I stand with Komen and a powerful group of community leaders who are using their platforms to drive real change. Their commitment ensures that more people not only survive breast cancer, but thrive after it. Because of research and support, more thrivers get to continue being moms, sisters, daughters, grandmas, and friends—and to live full, meaningful lives. Supporting Komen means supporting a future where no one faces breast cancer alone, and where survival is not the exception, but the expectation.
What makes you VIPink?
What makes me VIPink is my lived experience and my unwavering commitment to ensuring others have the chance to survive—and thrive—after a breast cancer diagnosis.
I proudly support Susan G. Komen’s mission to end breast cancer through research, advocacy, and direct patient support because I have seen how critical those services are when life feels uncertain. Komen is often one of the very first calls patients make after hearing the words “you have breast cancer,” and that immediate support can make the difference between fear and hope, delay and early treatment, isolation and community.
Joining Komen as a VIPink Heartland BigWig allows me to use my voice, my platform, and my community reach to drive real change—while bringing joy, laughter, and connection into a fight that can feel overwhelming. I believe that fundraising doesn’t just save lives; it builds community, creates momentum, and reminds patients they are not alone. I am ready to embrace the fun, the friendly competition, and the challenge of raising at least $5,000, knowing that every dollar supports education, screening, and treatment services across our region.
I am VIPink because I am proof of what’s possible when research, advocacy, and community come together—and I am committed to helping create a future where survival is not the exception, but the expectation.
What will be your competitive edge against your fellow ambassadors?
My competitive advantage as a VIPink is my survivor‑led leadership and community influence. I mobilize networks, inspire action through lived experience, and lead with purpose, empathy, and accountability. I motivate others to give, collaborate, and compete—transforming fundraising into a meaningful, high‑impact effort that saves lives.
Give us one fun fact about you
I’m not a great cook, which means my kids are learning early. Mealtime is now known as “fun meals” and everyone eats with an open mind.
