What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
Susan G. Komen's mission is incredibly powerful and inspiring. As a survivor who has faced cancer twice, my experience brings a unique perspective to the importance of the organization?s work. The support and advocacy provided by Susan G. Komen can be invaluable not only to individuals who have battled the disease but also to those currently fighting it.
What makes you VIPink?
"Being a survivor means embodying hope and strength for those who are just hearing the words ""you have cancer"" for the first time. We, the survivors, serve as a source of inspiration for others as they navigate their own battles. When I think of VIPink, I envision ""superheroes in pink,"" because a superhero is defined as someone possessing extraordinary abilities that go beyond the norm. That?s exactly what is needed when faced with a cancer diagnosis?a reservoir of extraordinary strength that emerges from within.
I may have triumphed in my own battle for now, but my mission is to support those currently fighting. For the entire month of October, I proudly wear a pink wig, and when people ask why, it gives me the perfect opportunity to raise awareness and advocate for others in this journey. Together, we can shine a light on the fight against breast cancer and uplift one another."
