What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
My connection to Susan G. Komen goes back to my time working with Norman Brinker, a visionary leader and mentor whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives, including my own. Norman, who was Susan Komen's brother-in-law, had a deep commitment to this cause, I consider it a true privilege to honor his legacy by supporting a mission that meant so much to him and his family.
On a personal note, our family has felt the loss caused by this disease. Our children's aunt, Loyce V., was a beautiful soul, gracious, kind, and spirited, guided by unwavering faith. In her honor, and for so many others, we stand together with hope, offering our support in the fight for a cure.
What makes you VIPink?
I am VIPink because everyone deserves access to the care, support, and research needed to fight breast cancer. Susan G. Komen's mission to advance treatment and provide vital support aligns with my values, and I am proud to be part of the effort to end breast cancer. VIPink is about making a real difference and honoring people who have inspired me along the way.
What are some way(s) you plan to raise awareness (and funds) as a VIPink Ambassador?”
As a VIPink Ambassador, I plan to leverage both my personal and professional networks to raise awareness and funds for Susan G. Komen’s mission. One of the more rewarding partnerships we have started at Salata Salad Kitchen is partnering with Susan G. Komen for the past two years, and this year, we are stepping it up a notch with a 5-event race/walk series to help support the cause. We will be engaging franchisees, guests, and community partners throughout these events. On a personal level, I have an incredible team behind me dedicated to leading campaigns and ensuring we create real impact in the fight against breast cancer.
