What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen's mission to end breast cancer?
Rick: My mother (“Gram” to Alex and Ben), Jean Harris, valiantly fought breast cancer, so our family knows firsthand how challenging breast cancer is for an individual and the entire family. It's encouraging to see the progress that has been made since my mom's diagnosis over 25 years ago. But despite progress, there were more than 350,000 new cases of breast cancer in the United States last year. We want to help raise funds to continue the progress that has been made.
Alex, Ben and I are proud to serve as VIPink ambassadors because we know Susan G. Komen has played a significant role in the mission to end breast cancer by investing in promising research, providing support for those affected, and advocating to improve treatment options and outcomes for all.
What makes you VIPink?
Rick: We are committed to doing our small part to help raise awareness and funds to advance research efforts. I want Alex and Ben and their children to live in a world where breast cancer is a thing in the past, not the future.
