What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
Rachael: Breast cancer has impacted my life since I was 12 years old. My mom, Patti Calderon, was diagnosed at 38 and went through a very aggressive cycle of chemotherapy and surgery. Her story continued 11 years later when her breast cancer came back. Her battle has continued on continuously since. Now my mother has metastatic stage 4 breast cancer. Without Susan G. Komen, my mom wouldn’t have had the resources she needed at the time without healthcare. My family and I will always stand by Susan G. Komen for the support and fight for the women and men fighting their fight today!
Kelsee: My step mom has been battling on and off for years. Every time they give her an amount of time she surpasses it and her strength inspires me to keep connected and do all I can for others battling this horrible disease.
What makes you VIPink?
Rachael: I would love to stand up for all the individuals and families affected by this disease! And fight until we find a cure!
Kelsee: My sister and I are going to work together in honor of our mom to make sure less and less people have to deal with something as devastating as breast cancer.
What will be your competitive edge against your fellow ambassadors?
Rachael: Unfortunately every generation of my family has been affected by breast cancer and with my family being female dominant it makes us all want to work hard and never give up. My friends who have also been affected by it make me want to push more and have the confidence to raise the money for all who are affected.
Kelsee: I have some great connections in the community willing to help in the fight.
Give us one fun fact about you.
Rachael: I am a very free spirited and goofy individual who always strives to put a smile on my family and friends' faces.
Kelsee: I am an aspiring winemaker who wants my label to be bigger than just wine. I want to use something I love to give back to my community.
