What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
As President and CEO of Advanced Visualization Solutions at GE HealthCare, our business segment develops advanced 3D ultrasound technology that has been shown to improve the sensitivity of detecting invasive cancer in dense breasts when added to mammography. This is important because dense breast tissue and cancer appear white on a mammogram, potentially camouflaging small cancers.
Our teams work closely with Susan G. Komen in other ways, like shaping national healthcare policy. This includes advocating for a nationwide reporting standard—that went into effect last year—requiring mammography facilities to provide information to patients regarding the density of their breasts. We are also working together on policy changes that improve access, affordability, and outcomes for the breast cancer community, focusing on issues like the cost of breast imaging and access to treatments. We're proud of these efforts so far and look forward to continuing our collaboration and lending our voices jointly to advocate for improved outcomes for women.
