What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
Throughout my life, I have watched friends and colleagues battle breast cancer. In fact, my stepmother has battled breast cancer twice in the last five years; her journey has been a difficult one. And through my work as a healthcare leader, I have heard so many patient stories that have moved me.
What makes you VIPink?
As President & CEO, U.S. & Canada at GE HealthCare, I have seen firsthand the impact of technology in the hands of healthcare providers to benefit patients. As a leader in breast health screening and diagnostic technology, GE HealthCare is committed to advancing women’s health and care that can empower personalized breast cancer care for all patients. We know early detection and access to regular screening can save lives. And for women with dense breast tissue, supplementary screening – such as traditional or automated breast ultrasound (ABUS), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and contrast enhanced mammography (CEM) – is critical.
What will be your competitive edge against your fellow ambassadors?
I am a passionate advocate of wearing color, so pink will fit right into my wardrobe! And on a more serious note, I love competition, especially for a good cause. I find that it motivates and drives us to be the best we can be – even more so when as part of a team with a shared mission, such as Susan G. Komen’s mission to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
