What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
I personally, along with several of my friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer. This disease has a profound reach that extends far past the patient. I've seen the toll it has taken on mothers, fathers, spouses and children. I have watched it uproot the hopes and dreams of many families and I am committed to raising funds to support those impacted and to find a cure.
What makes you VIPink?
Since my teenage years, I've always been on the go and am not one to sit. I set goals every step of the way and didn't stop even when others encouraged me to do so. My goal in life has always been to help others. I started my career in commercial banking where I helped business owners and not-for-profit organizations access capital to grow and carry out their visions. I then transitioned to a career in wealth management where I was able to affect even more positive change in the lives of families serving as their Family CFO. I am a wife, mother, Family CFO and breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 and made the decision that I would not let cancer define me. I focused on what I could control, put in God's hands what I could not and I continue to live by this today. I'm honored and proud to be a VIPink ambassador and to help others who have been affected by this horrendous disease.
What will be your competitive edge against your fellow ambassadors?
As a breast cancer warrior, I've experienced first-hand the challenges resulting from such a diagnosis. I was incredibly blessed by a strong support group that included family, friends, co-workers and clients. I am here today because of their love, support and prayers. I've made it my personal mission to pay forward this support and am excited to raise funds for this amazing cause.
Give us one fun fact about you
I am an avid hiker and have a love for National Parks. I've been to 20 National Parks in the US thus far and my goal is to visit all 63 while also exploring National Parks outside of the United States. I also spent time in the Smoky Mountains while undergoing chemotherapy and hiked 5 miles per day!
