What makes you feel connected to Susan G. Komen and our mission to end breast cancer?
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma while 29 weeks pregnant with my daughter. It’s been a long 19 months of chemo, double mastectomy, and radiation. I was declared in remission the day before my daughter turned one in August! I have reconstruction coming up at the end of March. Without Komen and its continued fundraising efforts in the medical world, I would not be alive today. It's personal for me!
What makes you VIPink?
I wouldn't wish this journey on anyone! It is SO challenging, at times seemingly impossible, but I've learned that I can do hard things! And we are better together!
What will be your competitive edge against your fellow ambassadors?
I am a forward thinking, out of the box thinker! I am relatable, friendly, and bold. I'm not scared of being uncomfortable and actually like to lean into discomfort!
Give us one fun fact about you.
In the 3rd grade, I won 1st place in the City of Austin Holiday Coloring Contest and got to officially open The Trail of Lights complete with newscast and giant scissors!
