Do I get a t-shirt?

All participants who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a commemorative fundraiser t-shirt.

All survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer will receive a special t-shirt recognizing their role in our event regardless of fundraising level or status. Registered survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer who raise $100 or more will receive two shirts—a pink survivor shirt and a gray fundraiser shirt.

Register and fundraise early to receive your shirt before event day!

How will I get my t-shirt?

We are now mailing all shirts for $100+ fundraisers, survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer.

In order to receive your shirt in time for Walk day*, you must register and/or fundraise $100+ by Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Central. Survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer who register, and participants who raise $100, after Sunday, October 8, 2023 will receive your shirt(s) by mail after the event. The final cut-off date for participants to raise $100 and receive a shirt is Sunday, December 3, 2023.

*Shirts are being mailed via USPS. As with any shipping provider, delays may occur.

Please note: there will be no t-shirts available for pick up either pre-event or on event day. Thank you for your commitment to Susan G. Komen and our efforts to simplify our t-shirt process.

Why are all t-shirts being mailed this year?

Mailing all shirts guarantees you will get the size you requested. Additionally, the new program will cut down on waste and will allow for cost savings, ensuring more of your fundraising dollars are directed to Komen’s lifesaving mission.

Do donations made to a team qualify team members to receive fundraising shirts?

No. Individual team members must have at least $100 in their individual fundraising accounts to qualify for a fundraising t-shirt. Donations to a team do not count toward individual team member fundraising.

Event Day Tools

This event is a celebration of the strength and resilience of survivors and all people living with metastatic breast cancer. We honor these members of our community at:

Hope Village Celebration, sponsored by Puma Biotechnology | 6:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Gather alongside fellow breast cancer patients, survivors, and thrivers (plus up to one guest) in Hope Village to receive custom swag bags, free massage services and reiki, as well as a complimentary continental breakfast provided by Panera Bread.

Our 2023 Hope Village sponsor, Puma Biotechnology, will also be hosting two educational talks on management strategies for reducing the risk of HER2+ breast cancer recurrence at 6:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. in front of the Hope Village stage.

Pathway of Hope Procession | 7:15 a.m.
We invite all survivors, thrivers, and patients to gather in front of the Native Poppy flower arch at 7:15am for the Pathway of Hope procession to the main stage, which kicks off our Walk opening ceremony. Once at the front of the stage, you’ll be able to enjoy the opening ceremony from your reserved front-row viewing area.

Your Event T-shirt
All registered breast cancer survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer will receive a special event shirt to recognize your special place in our event. To guarantee your shirt arrives in time for you to wear it on event morning, you must register by Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Central.

Susan G. Komen's work would not be possible without our fundraisers. It is our honor to recognize those fundraisers who go above and beyond with their efforts and their support — our top Individuals and Top Teams.

Top Fundraisers — Individuals who raise $1,000+
On event morning, follow the Top Fundraiser signs to the area reserved just for you! You’ll be gifted a special Top Fundraiser item to help you stand apart from the crowd and we invite you to pop in and enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks provided by generous local partners.

Your Walk T-shirt
All top fundraisers will earn this year’s commemorative event shirt because you raise well over the $100 goal to earn a shirt. To guarantee your shirt arrives in time for you to wear it on Walk morning, you must have raised your first $100 by Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Central.

Top Teams — Teams who raise $2,500+
Every team that raises $2,500 or more will be offered a tent and table in our Top Teams area. We encourage our top teams to bring snacks, drinks, and items to share with your team members. Teams raising $2,500 or more by October 17th will be offered a dedicated space in our Top Fundraising area. Deadline to secure your Team space is October 20th.

    • The #1 top fundraising team for the 2023 event will have the exclusive opportunity to have their team photo taken from the main stage by our professional photographer. We will print and frame up to (5) five 8” x 10” copies to be provided to the team captain post–event.
    • The largest overall team by size will have the opportunity to be front and center at the Walk start line by being the first group to leave the start line after the kickoff. Photos taken of the group as the Walk begins will be provided by email to the team captain post–event.
    • Both groups will receive special recognition with custom signage celebrating their status as our highest fundraising or largest team, respectively.
How long is the Walk?

The 2023 Komen San Diego MORE THAN PINK Walk is 2.4 miles.

Getting to the Event and Parking

Ample free parking will be available at the Inspiration Point parking lot located on Park Blvd. on the east side of Balboa Park. We will have complimentary event shuttles available to transport participants between the parking area and the main event site between 6:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

If you prefer to walk to the event area from the east side of the park, plan to allow 15 to 20 minutes for the scenic one mile walk to the starting area located on the west side of Balboa Park.

To the west of the event site, there may be street parking available on a first-come/first-serve basis on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Avenues between Upas and Grape. For a hassle-free experience, we strongly advise parking at Inspiration Point and utilizing the event shuttles.

In all cases, we encourage you to carpool if possible and allow extra time to walk from your car to the starting line. We also encourage alternate means of transportation, such as the low-cost MTS bus, trolley, or arranging to be dropped off in Balboa Park.

Are strollers allowed at the event?

Yes! We encourage participants of all ages to join us on event day!

Can I bring my dog(s) to the event?

Yes! Dogs are welcome to join us on the course and in the event area. Please keep your pet(s) leashed at all times for the safety of your pet and other event participants.

For people with cancer or those with compromised immune systems, the CDC and NCCN (National Comprehensive Cancer Network) still recommends wearing a mask, social distancing, washing your hands, avoiding crowds, and other preventive measures.

On Sunday, November 5, 2023, we will walk for the people who can't: For those too weakened by treatment to join. For those who are suffering. For those we have lost. Together we will fight back against breast cancer.
