I'm a vocal artist influenced by the singer Minnie Riperton. Minnie, who wrote the classic song "Lovin' You," was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1976. Three years later, she passed away at the young age of 31.
Minnie insisted that the 1 in 8 women at risk for breast cancer deserve to live and be loved. And she raised funds that helped make this a reality. As a result, today, breast cancer patients have a better chance of survival.
Minnie's strength and the resilience of my friends that have fought cancer inspire me. In their honor, I've formed #TeamLovinYou to join the Race for the Cure in Minnie's hometown of Chicago.
