Once again this year, I registered for the Komen Race for the Cure because I want to raise awareness and take action. I want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer and need your help. This year, as the race will be a virtual race, I will be running my 5K with my baby daughter at the Five Towns Five K on September 12, 2021 http://www.5towns5k.org/ . It is my hope that my daughter will remember the race, and never have to remember what they were for.
We all know someone, a parent, a sibling, a child, a friend, who has been stricken by this horrible disease. They have been cut into, injected with chemotherapy drugs and subjected to radiation. They have lost their appetite, their hair, their organs (yes, breast cancer spreads beyond the breast) and some have lost their lives. Every year we get closer to eradicating this disease, but we're not there yet - let's try to get to the finish line sooner! Funds raised help support breakthrough research and help for the women and men facing breast cancer today who need our support now, as much as ever.
As usual, and as an incentive to raise funds, if I reach the $500.00 mark by September 9th, I will race with pink hair. If I reach the $1,500.00 mark (but I will have to reach it before the September 9th), I will race wearing a pink tutu and pink hair. And you are all invited to attend to see me run.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts. Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.
In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by making a donation today?
