My Story
It has been 9 1/2 years since my sister died of breast cancer, almost 13 years since her diagnosis. It has been 8 1/2 years since my own diagnosis and treatment. I recently counted 25 women I know who have also dealt with the diagnosis and treatment, just in the last 12 years. Only 1 of these women, beside my sister, has lost the fight.
I feel this walk and fundraising provides what a researcher needs to discover treatments but also provides help for local women in their fight. Treatments change often. I saw this during my own treatment. By the time my chemo, surgery and radiation were completed, I had 3 treatment options after that pertaining to the immunotherapy portion. I do this walk for my daughters, my niece and their children.
