Cancer has torn through my family. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, my mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer, and one year later, a routine mammogram found my breast cancer. My Aunt Jean survived breast cancer. My Aunt Anne fought it, only to have it return, spread throughout her body, and take her life.
This October, I will celebrate five years as a survivor and finally complete my treatment. I am still here because mammograms detect cancer early and research has created treatments that save lives. But too many women with metastatic breast cancer are still dying.
That is why I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The money we raise helps fund breakthrough research while providing financial assistance, emotional support, and care-navigation services to people facing this disease.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support my fundraising efforts. Your gift is not simply supporting a race. It is helping give someone more time, more birthdays, and the chance to say, “I survived.”
Ending breast cancer will take all of us. Will you join me in this fight by donating today?
