My WHY
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
I am not a big fan of the Pink Ribbons and Save the TaTas stuff. There are a lot of much worse and less treatable cancers in this world, but I am a survivor and there are reasons why I support this Walk.
In 2013, I was diagnosed with Stage II Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I had surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiation. It was a long haul, a year of recovery and treatment. But I was lucky, and I have been cancer free now for more than 13 years. The treatments have improved, hair loss is no longer inevitable and other advancements and knowledge have helped women all over the world dealing with this disease.
My WHY is my daughters and now granddaughter. I do not want to see them go through anything close to what I endured in treatments, fear and anxiety. I want them to live life unencumbered by this disease, there is enough in this world to worry about. If they do ever need to face cancer, I want the treatments and the science to be the best we can provide.
