My Story
On 4/8/26, I was diagnosed with stage 1b Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. On 5/27/26, I underwent a double mastectomy and on 7/8/26, I was told I have to have chemotherapy. I could handle the surgeries but to hear I needed chemo rocked me to my core. How do you say “yes” to something that you know will make you feel sick when all this time you have not felt sick at all? On 7/29/26, I had my first infusion and on 9/30/26, I expect to have my last. I must say this chemo journey has been easier to manage than I expected. I attribute this to decades of research and hard work from those in the Oncology field developing better chemotherapies and better ways to manage potential side effects. So for that, this is why I walk!
