My Triple Negative Breast Cancer Story
Hi Friends and Family--
I just registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk this coming November. Many of you know that I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in March of 2025. I was very lucky in that it was caught early and that my cancer responded to my treatment extremely well. It was the hardest year of my life getting through that treatment and I felt very fortunate to be treated by some of the best doctors and nurses at UCSF. Because I was being treated at UCSF I was offered the chance to check to see if my cancer was gone after my first 3 months of chemo. It was--I had what is a called complete response and was able to skip the second chemo drug and go to surgery for my lumpectomy. This shortened my treatment by a couple months and also spared my body an even more intense and toxic chemotherapy drug. If it were not for research that is showing women can have a complete response to the combination of chemo and immunotherapy I would have had to go through more chemo and have a much more physically and emotionally intense and difficult experience. I can't even imagine it--it was so difficult as it was.
