My Story: Team La Shon - Marching On
Breast cancer was never a journey I expected to take.
What began with a diagnosis became a year filled with appointments, difficult decisions, surgeries, radiation, healing, uncertainty, and more emotions than I could have ever prepared for. There were hard days, but there were also countless reminders of how blessed I am to have faith, family, friends, and an incredible community standing beside me.
Breast cancer changed me. It taught me not to take a single day for granted, to celebrate the victories—big and small—and, no matter what the day brings, to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
That is why we are Team La Shon – Marching On.
This year, I joined the Susan G. Komen community and registered for the MORE THAN PINK Walk because my journey may be personal, but the fight against breast cancer is bigger than any one of us.
I am walking for those hearing the words “you have breast cancer” for the first time. I am walking for those currently undergoing treatment, for survivors like me, for the families and caregivers standing beside us, and in memory of those we have lost.
And I am walking because there is still work to be done.
Every donation to my fundraising efforts helps move us one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised support breakthrough research while also helping people facing breast cancer today—through emotional support, financial assistance, and navigation services that help break down barriers to care.
I know firsthand how much it means to have people standing beside you when you are facing breast cancer. No one should have to walk this journey alone.
Ending breast cancer will take all of us.
So today, I’m asking you to stand with me. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support my fundraising efforts and Team La Shon – Marching On. Every gift, no matter the amount, represents hope, support, and another step forward.
I’m walking because I lived it.
I’m walking because I’m still here.
I’m walking for those who cannot.
And I’m Marching On because there is still work to be done.
Will you join me in this fight?
Together, we can show every person facing breast cancer that there is an entire community standing beside them—and together, we can keep Marching On toward a world without breast cancer.
With love and gratitude,
La Shon
