In January 2026, I was diagnosed with stage 3C triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Since then, I’ve undergone 6 months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by a bilateral mastectomy with lymph node dissection. To continue my treatment, I’ll now be undergoing proton therapy (similar to radiation) for 5 weeks. Later this fall, I’m enrolling in the ASCENT-05 phase 3 clinical trial at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore (more chemo!) to further reduce my risk of recurrence.
TNBC is an aggressive form of breast cancer that accounts for only 10-15% of all breast cancer diagnoses. TNBC currently has no targeted treatment options, which makes it have less favorable outcomes, although research is ongoing and very promising. The money that Susan G. Komen raises goes to fund research and discover more effective treatments, and their funds have directly supported the ASCENT-05 trial that I am participating in. Donations also help connect people with things like breast cancer education & information, emotional support, patient navigation, financial assistance and so much more.
I'm walking for myself, my family and for every person facing breast cancer, hoping that better treatments and a cure are ahead. I'm also walking to thank my family, friends, doctors, nurses, researchers and everyone who has supported my diagnosis and this cause.
Thank you for being part of my village!
