We are walking for two incredible women, Emily and Elizabeth.
Emily is a 40-year-old wife, mom of two boys, and recent small business owner who had just taken the brave step of starting her own medspa. Shortly after finishing breastfeeding her youngest, she noticed that one breast looked different. It would have been easy to chalk it up to the many changes that come with pregnancy, postpartum life, and breastfeeding, but she trusted her instincts and chose to get it checked out. That decision led to a diagnosis of high-grade DCIS, and she is now preparing for surgery. Emily’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of listening to your body, advocating for yourself, and taking action even when it would be easier to explain something away.
We are also walking for Elizabeth, whose story has inspired us deeply. Elizabeth is a wife, a mom to three girls, and has a full-time career in medical sales. At just 35 years old, with no immediate family history and no known risk factors, she found a tiny lump completely by chance at the end of a long day. What could have been so easy to miss became the moment that changed everything. The very next day, she made an appointment and chose not to wait — a decision that helped save her life.
Elizabeth was diagnosed with Stage 2B triple negative breast cancer, grade 3, and was thrust into six months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy followed by a bilateral mastectomy. Her journey did not come without lasting side effects and enormous challenges, but thanks to science, modern medicine, and her incredible strength, her treatment was intended to cure — and that is what it did.
As Elizabeth enters a new chapter, her goal is to help others along their own journeys and to shine a light on the very real emotional, physical, and financial burdens that come with cancer.
We are walking to honor Emily and Elizabeth, to celebrate strength and survivorship, and to support every woman and family facing breast cancer. Thank you for walking with us, praying with us, and supporting this cause that means so much to our families.
