My name is Lilian Obinna-Igwe and I am dedicated to Komen’s mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help! My decision to support Susan G. Komen goes far beyond participating in a walk or wearing pink—it is deeply personal.

In 2003, I lost my mother to breast cancer. Watching someone I loved so dearly battle this disease was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. Her strength, courage, and unwavering love throughout her journey left a lasting impression on me, but losing her changed my life forever. It reshaped how I view health, family, and the importance of investing in the fight against cancer.

Since then, cancer has continued to touch the lives of people close to me. I have had family members and dear family friends who have faced this disease. Some have sadly lost their battles, while others are inspiring cancer survivors whose resilience gives me hope. Each story has strengthened my resolve and reminded me that breast cancer is not just a statistic—it affects real people, real families, and entire communities.

That is why I choose to support Susan G. Komen. Their mission to save lives through research, education, patient support, and advocacy aligns with my desire to help create a future where fewer families experience the heartbreak that mine did. Supporting this cause is my way of honoring my mother’s memory and standing with every person whose life has been impacted by breast cancer.

I am deeply passionate about the eradication of cancer. I dream of a day when no child has to lose a parent, no family has to endure the pain of this disease, and every patient has access to the care and hope they deserve.
