On June 15th, 2023, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.

I’ll never forget asking my doctor, “Am I gonna die?" She told me the road wouldn’t be easy but if anyone could beat it, it was me. I took a deep breath, said a prayer, and knew this wasn’t the end of my story. It was the beginning.

Three surgeries, 13 rounds of chemo, 130 hours freezing my head (thanks to my rockstar hubby!), and 18 rounds of immunotherapy later, I’m incredibly grateful to say I am 2.5 years cancer free. 

But my story became even more personal when my mom was diagnosed with the exact same cancer. Watching her walk a road I knew all too well brought back so many emotions. But today, my mom is a TNBC survivor too!

Two women. One diagnosis. Two battles. And TWO survivors.

This is why I walk.

I walk because research gives us hope. Because the treatments that helped saved my life exist because people before us chose to walk, donate, raise awareness, and fight for better options. And because of continued research, new treatments and new hope are being created for the women who will face this diagnosis tomorrow.
