This year, and every year, I walk with Susan G. Komen to recognize the strength and resiliency of my mom after she conquered her battle with breast cancer. Each year I also keep in my heart the memory of the woman who I believe had a hand in saving my mom. Miss Trudy encouraged screenings and shared the highs and lows of her fight until the very end. I am forever grateful to her for not just acting as another mother to me but for the role she played in my mom’s journey. For those still with us and those we’ve bid farewell until we meet again, I will always walk and pray for a cure!
