In 2024 I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ (breast cancer trapped in a milk duct) Stage 0, Grade 3 (not a problem yet, but aggressively growing). I was given the news on my birthday. 42 started rough.
A month later - November 15 - I had a double mastectomy with plan to reconstruct breasts through a diep flap procedure at a later date. After living with expanders for two months and reading and reading about the diep flap and all the possible (likely) complications, I opted to remove expanders and go flat.
January 15 I had surgery for an Aesthetic Flat Closure. All went well. And I had a final (hopefully) surgery to smooth things out in October 2025.
Now that I'm healed up and getting myself to a 'new normal', I wanted to complete a breast cancer walk.
The amount of research going into breast cancer is amazing and has lead to enormous progress in treatments *and* catching breast cancer sooner.
Thank you for helping keep that progress going! I appreciate your support - whether financial or physical (walking with me) or emotional (being my friend...y'all have been amazing humans).
Thank you!
