Breast cancer has touched our family in the most profound way. In 2005, we lost our beloved mother after her courageous battle with breast cancer. Her strength, love, and determination continue to inspire us every day, and her memory remains at the heart of why we participate in the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk.

This year, our walk carries an even deeper meaning. In 2023, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a difficult but thankfully short battle, she emerged as a survivor. Watching her face this challenge with courage and resilience reminded us just how important early detection, quality treatment, research, and support services are for individuals and families facing breast cancer.

We are raising money to help ensure that others have access to the resources, care, and hope that can make a life-changing difference. Every dollar raised supports critical breast cancer research, patient support programs, education, and advocacy efforts that help save lives and improve outcomes for those affected by this disease.

The More Than Pink Walk is about more than raising funds—it’s about coming together as a community. It’s about honoring those we have lost, celebrating survivors, supporting those currently fighting, and standing alongside families whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer. The connections, encouragement, and shared purpose found within this community remind us that no one faces this journey alone.

For our family, this walk is both a tribute and a celebration. We walk in memory of our mother, whose legacy of strength continues to guide us. We walk in honor of my sister, whose victory over breast cancer gives us hope. And we walk for every family affected by this disease, believing that together we can create a future where breast cancer no longer takes the people we love.
