The money our team raises will fund research to discover more effective treatments for breast cancer. Additionally, it will provide vital patient support to help connect people with things like breast cancer education and information, emotional support, patient navigation, financial assistance and so much more.
Breast cancer runs in our family. My mom, maternal aunt, and maternal grandmother all have had it. My mom was diagnosed at the young age of 28, and because of that my sister and I have been getting screenings every 6 months for over 15 years now. We've had countless mammograms, MRI's, ultrasounds and exams to ensure we are as proactive as possible.
I have met many wonderful breast cancer survivors and thrivers through my work at Komen, and I continually am impressed with their resilience and the work that Komen does. It is truly making a difference. It's critical to keep funding breast cancer research and programming, so that my daughter, my nieces, my cousins and my friends can have a better, healthy future.
