The Rack Pack is More Than Pink

On October 4th 2023 I received the call telling me my biopsy was positive. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer (TNBC)an aggressive type that is not hormone driven. My tumor was about 1.5 cm. By the time I started chemo a few weeks later is was already about 3.5 cm.
On November 2, 2023 I attempted my first chemo treatment. Two minutes in I had an allergic reaction and a room full of amazing nurses keeping me calm while giving me multiple doses of benadryl and epinephrine. One week later, we successfully tried again with a different chemo cocktail and immunotherapy. By November 24th I was 3 treatments in and had lost more than half my hair. I decided to shave my head which was more empowering than I expected but also more humbling. Now I had to show the world I had cancer.
Over the next few months my body grew weak and tired. My bones hurt, body ached, the nausea increased and my appetite was gone, but I refused to let it get the best of me. With support of my amazing chemo crew, Steph's Rack Pack, I made each day as normal as possible until I finally had my last chemo treatment on March 27th 2024. On April 11th I had a mastectomy and my results showed no further cancer growth. I was cancer free!

1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. TNBC accounts for about 10-15% of all breast cancers; or it affects 13 in every 100,000 females in the United States.

This year, I again joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer who need our support. Whether it's emotional support through Komen's financial assistance program or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let's show breast cancer patients there's a whole community standing by their side.
Please join me in this fight by making a donation today.
