One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. This past March, my mom received this life-altering diagnosis. I'd always heard about this horrific disease, but never imagined it would strike so close to home. I will never forget the moment we learned of my mom's diagnosis — the world seemed to stop as fear and uncertainty washed over me. My mom has always been my rock and my best friend. If I could have, I would have taken on her pain myself, but all I could do was stand by her side, hold her hand during treatments, and remind her of her incredible strength. I am grateful to share that my mom is doing well and is starting her chemotherapy journey. Each step forward brings us hope, even as she continues to face challenges with courage.
