My Story
I am about to enter the 20th year without my mom. It's hard to believe she's been gone this long, and yet I still grieve her and the fact that she never got to meet Kevin and our kids.
This year hits especially hard because I'm now the same age my mom was when she was first diagnosed. I often think about how different things might have been. With what we know today and the incredible advancements in breast cancer research, my mom could very well still be alive.
One of those breakthroughs is Herceptin, a drug used to treat the very type of breast cancer my mom had. Back then, it didn't exist. Herceptin became possible thanks, in part, to research funded by Susan G. Komen.
Komen doesn't just fund research. They also provide critical access to care and support for people who might not otherwise get the help they need, saving lives every single year.
This cause is deeply personal to me. In honor of my mom, I'm fundraising for Susan G. Komen so that more families can have more time, more memories, and more hope.
Please consider donating to my fundraiser today. Every gift, big or small, truly makes a difference.
Thank you for helping me honor my mom's memory and for joining me in the fight against breast cancer.
With gratitude,
Jill
PS - My mom isn't the only one I've lost. Too many to name.
