My Journey: I Fought Like a Girl

On May 17th, 2024, I heard the words that no one is ever prepared for:

“You have Stage 3 breast cancer.”

In that moment, my entire world shifted. I was devastated, scared, hurt, disappointed, and unsure—all at once. My mind immediately went to my children—young adults still finding their way—and the thought of possibly leaving them behind was unbearable. The doctors flooded me with information, terminology, and treatment options, and I was still just trying to breathe.

But after the tears, the silence, and the fear… I did what I’ve always done.

I lifted my chin, pushed out my chest, and fought like a girl.

On June 17th, 2024, I underwent a lumpectomy. I walked into that surgery with faith and fire in my heart—and today, my body is cancer free.

This journey has tested me in every way possible, but it also showed me who and what matters most. I’m forever grateful for the family and friends who stood by me, held my hand, prayed with me, fed me, cried with me, and never let me forget how strong I am.

Now, I walk not just for me, but for every woman still fighting, for every survivor, and for every soul we’ve lost too soon. This October, I’m building my team for the 2025 Breast Cancer Walk, and I invite you to walk with me.

Together, we fight.

Together, we rise.

Together, we are warriors.
