Around 2 weeks postpartum with my second baby, I found a large, hard lump in left my breast. It formed fast, and two doctors told me it was probably just a clogged duct or breastfeeding related. I knew something was wrong, and the lump never got smaller. After visiting a third doctor, I was finally sent for ultrasounds, biopsies and MRIs, revealing that I had Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ (DCIS). After a full left-side mastectomy, my pathology revealed I had ER positive /HER2 positive invasive metastatic breast cancer. I am now receiving chemotherapy with Taxol and Herceptin. Once completed, I will start another 13 treatments of Herceptin, and then endocrine therapy.
