Puffer's Pals

Our Story

This year -- now 30 years since I first became involved with Komen -- I once again joined the ONE Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk.  I am dedicated to Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help.

Your support helps us get ONE step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support.  Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.

My story:

I am a two-time breast cancer survivor – 36 years and 13 years.  I also have the BRCA gene mutation that is predictive of breast and ovarian cancer.

As I said above, my involvement in Komen dates back 30 years, THIS YEAR!!

I served on the founding committee of the Komen Connecticut Race for the Cure in 1993 and in 1999 on the Connecticut Affiliate Founding Committee.  I have worked in all aspects of Race and Affiliate planning, sponsorship, fundraising, branding and grant-making.

After 40 Races and Walks over 30 years in Southwest Florida, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Dallas and NYC, Puffer's Pals alone has raised more than $80,000 in modest, grassroots, individual donations. I strongly believe that no donation is too small and no step too short or slow.

My husband Tom and I have kept at it – rain or shine – teams large and small.  If you joined us in the past, consider joining us again.  Even if you don't walk distances, we can visit at the festive Walk site in Bushnell Park.  If you have not joined us before, I hope you will consider it.
