My Story
As many of you know, my mom has been fighting stage 4 breast cancer for many years. She has been through chemo, radiation, surgeries, and endless tests, medications, and treatments. She drives for hours nearly every week to ensure she receives her care, which usually results in horrific side effects. Each treatment plan only works for 12-18 months before the cancer continues to spread again. She is in pain every day. We live by cancer cell count numbers and PET scan results. We celebrate stability, since neither cure nor recovery is an option for her. She’s a fighter- you’ll never meet anyone with a more positive attitude toward her daily battles.
Carole is also a dear friend who I’m so happy to say is a survivor in the last year. She is an incredible mom to her two awesome boys and just a light in this world. Someday she will also be my daughter’s mother-in-law.
Another friend was also recently diagnosed with breast cancer in her 40s. She’s a mom, a wife, an educator, and an amazing human with a positive attitude.
It’s just not fair that this disease can devastate good people in the world like these women and the families and friends. I know the medical teams are doing all they can, but it’s just not yet enough. I will be walking in the Susan G Koman More Than Pink walk to raise money for this cause. Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference.
