Why we are walking...
This year, I joined the ONE Komen community and registered a team for the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk. I am walking in memory of my mother, Tracie Hash Nisker who passed at 58 years old of metastatic breast cancer in May of this year. Please consider joining “Tracie’s Team” with her daughters and/or making a tax-deductible donation today in support of our fundraising efforts to end breast cancer forever.
No one should have to battle the horrible path that is breast cancer like my mom had to. She was first diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in January of 2020 and bravely underwent surgery, intense chemotherapy, and radiation. All were grateful when she entered remission in the late summer of 2020, only to be made aware that it had returned and rapidly metastasized to spread to her bones and vital organs in October 2021. Tracie underwent four types of chemo and radiation fought extremely hard to stay with us but ultimately succumbed to this awful illness 7 short months later. This is truly a debilitating and painful disease that inflicts harm on so many people and their loved ones. It is way past time that we invest more funding into research for more effective treatments, especially for triple negative breast cancer. It’s one of the most aggressive and invasive types of breast cancer with the least amount of treatment options.
In moments like this, generosity can make a real difference. Together, we can show breast cancer patients, survivors, and all those grieving the loss of their loved ones to this horrible cancer that there’s a whole community standing by their side and fighting to find a cure. Please join us in donating and walking for “Tracie’s Team” to remember and honor the love and light that was my mom.
