In May of 2010 I participated in my very first Race For The Cure Walk. As I
stood among the sea of pink I was in complete awe of the outpouring of
love and support for Heather Pick. Little did I know that just one week
later breast cancer would come knocking on my families door. My mom was
diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. So many thoughts were
going to through my head at the time I was a new mom to an 8 mos Elijah
who was full of laughter and energy. Why now and why her?? Losing my mom
was not an option so it was st that moment that she and I switched
roles and I became her biggest champion and supporter. We tackled Chemo
and then surgery that November. In 2011 I walked beside my mom for her
first Race for The Cure watched her cross that finish line as a
survivor. I was able to do this again in 2012,2013 and 2014. In 2015 I walked in honor of her as she was in the hospital at the time and passed away two later. However that has not stopped my fight! I have continued to create a team and walk and raise funds to help find a cure for this disease because it is important to me that no one else has to walk in memory of their mother!
