As a member of this team, we are each playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen® in their ONE mission to end breast cancer forever.
We are honoring a warrior in the fight for cancer screenings and prevention, LaVita Rodriguez. She is our hero! LaVita was diagnosed at 33, October 2018 and used the years she had left to be a light for others. LaVita fought to educate and to ensure change for those who were diagnosed with breast cancer at ages as young as their 20's which could have been prevented with early screenings.
She met with legislators during the 2021 Capitol Hill House and Senate member meetings on Lobby Day asking for increased funding for Cancer Research & Prevention programs, including $275 million for the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.
She is no longer with us as her fight ended in 2022, but she's with us in spirit. We will not let her light go out. We honor her with not just our words, but by our actions. We join together walking in her honor and any money raised will help to fund research to discover more effective treatments, as well as vital patient support to help connect people with things like breast cancer screenings, diagnostics, treatment assistance and so much more.
