Nicole and Abigail are walking this 5k to honor women they know and love who have been affected by breast cancer.
In April 2022, Nicole was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer at age 44.
After a lumpectomy and radiation (plus medication for the next several years), she went into remission.
She also just had her yearly mammogram, and all is clear! Nicole recognizes how unbelievably lucky she was to have caught the disease so early, that her treatment was more or less painless, and her privilege to have had good health insurance through her employer.
Through her journey, she learned about so many friends and friends of friends who have experienced breast cancer, and she is dedicating the walk to them.
