My Story

On June 7, 2023 my world changed forever!  I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Grade 2 Invasive ductal carcinoma in my left breast.  My Surgical Oncology team recommended a breast conservation lumpectomy.  I kindly declined and opted for a double mastectomy, which took place on August 4, 2023.  Long story short, after surgery, the Pathology report came back showing there was cancer present in my right breast and my lymph nodes.  I am very thankful I advocated for myself.  Had I not, it would have either killed me or I would at least be back in the same position in a couple years when they found the other cancer.

It has been a journey to say the least!  I started chemotherapy treatment on September 9, 2023, ended on January 5, 2024.  Radiation began on January 29, 2024 and ended on March 1, 2024.

Participating in this year's race is very exciting.  I am not back at full strength yet, but I can walk and I will cross the finish line this year on May 18, 2024!

With Love :)
