My Story

This year, I joined the ONE Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen RACE FOR THE CURE.  I am dedicated to Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

Your support helps us get ONE step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support.  Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.

In moments like this, your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.

September of 2023 I found a small lump in my right breast that was very small but suspicious. At the beginning of October, I had my first mammogram and ultrasound and results were not good. Vey quickly I was then scheduled for a biopsy that same week. On October 16th I got the biopsy results and I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) and Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS). My world was rocked - I was only 36 with 3 kids. I was scheduled for a double mastectomy on November 21st. I didn't have clear margins after the surgery, so then needed radiation. I just finished radiation on March 7th and will have my permanent reconstruction surgery this coming July. This process has been so long but I have grown so much throughout this journey in my faith. God has carried me through every step of this and will continue to walk with me. He has blessed me with such an amazing family and friends that have supported me and my family. I don't know what I would have done without them.  I have also met new friends that are survivors or that are walking similar or the same walk I am on currently.

I am a BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR and want to end this for those to come!
